Sex Sells, But It Has Nothing To Do With This Entry
08.09.2005
A summer with too much to do and not enough time. Yep, that's the feeling I'm having these days and slacking off on writing about it. Oh well, what's a monkey to do? Saturday night I got the chance to hear Death Cab For Cutie in Bend again at the Les Schwab Old Mill Amphitheater. Okay, I'll fess up. I wasn't able to attend the awesome show that went from 4pm until 10pm that featured The Decemberists, Built To Spill, Pedro The Lion and Viva Voce, but I did get to hear Death Cab For Cutie play. Sitting across the river in the grass, with about 20 other people, we could hear the show perfectly. I wanted my wife to hear them play (since she missed them last time when they opened for The Pixies), but I wasn't interested in shelling out more than $60 for the show. We could actually see the stage from where we sat and it wasn't much worse than some seats we've had at the Rose Garden in Portland. The Deschutes County Fair ended on Sunday and we made our final trip out there this year to collect our art and photo exhibits. This meant more lines to pick up stuff and get out of the place. The thing that irritates me is that you have to pick up your stuff between 5pm and 6pm, and the fair shuts down at 5pm, so by the time you have your stuff and are ready to go, so are everyone else who exhibited anything, plus all the people who stayed until the very end, thus making one last line of traffic you have to wait in. I think I would sum up this year's fair with the theme more lines than a coke-head sees in a lifetime. The good news was we did pretty well on our entries. I entered less stuff that last year, when I went nuts and entered as much as I possibly could. All in all I ended up with six blue ribbons, six red ribbons and one third-place, out of 21 total entries.

According to your hi-fi voice thing (which I think is cooler than scrambled eggs on white toast) you saw Death Cab for Cootie. I would think that Cutie would be a known word, distinguished from Cootie. Oh well.
