Monkey Claus: The Trifecta, Almost, So Close
12.03.2005
Third times a charm, as they like to say, but they obviously haven't had technical difficulties with monkey wagons in parades before right? Okay, hold on a second, maybe you don't know what I'm talking about, but if you go back to last year or two years ago, you'll have some background to know what's up. Yep, it was that time of the year again. The time where I get to walk down the middle of the street in downtown Bend, pulling a small Radio Flyer wagon with a monkey in it. Not just any monkey mind you, it's Monkey Claus, appearing for the third straight year. Of course this year it was technical difficulties to the max. I know, I know, technical difficulties with a wagon? Well, to start with I had some fluffy pimp fur wrapped around the monkey. It looked pimptastically good until it tangled around a wheel. I had to try to unwrap it just shortly after getting into the beginning of the crowd. That was a small delay and the monkey wagon was back on track soon after. As the we (okay, I was with a group of Girl Scouts again) entered the heart of downtown my monkey's hat started to fall off. The road was covered with thick ice and cinders, so it was too bumpy for the ride and I had to pick up the wagon and carry it the rest of the way. Defeated. This was the second parade where I attempted to integrate sound into the wagon, but the small battery powered speaker just isn't enough for a parade. It's a bummer, because the thought of walking down the middle of downtown Bend, pulling a wagon with a monkey with Santa hat, while playing Tiny Bubbles is pretty fun. Maybe next year it will work out better. Maybe next year I'll get more volume and make it happen. Maybe next year I'll.... Oh man, am I really this obsessed with monkeys in parades? Hell yeah.
