Now One For The Brew Site

life's little pleasures

After showing that I could fill in for Bend Oregon Restaurants if necessary, I figured I might as well do the same for Jon and The Brew Site. Without further ado, presents Old English 800:

Unlike Jon, Santa didn't bring the monkey a bunch of extra cash to spend on the brewski's, but it didn't mean I had to hold back in this review. I thought I'd go grab a 64oz Old English 800, but to my shock and disbelief I found that in this day and age of family values all I could score was a measly 40oz.

Old English, OE800, Old Gold, 8 Ball, Ol' Enggy. This fine brew comes from Miller Brewing Company, but for some reason it isn't prominently featured on their website. Tsk. Tsk.

With that said, let's get down to the details.

Appearance: This golden malt brew, it just that. Golden. It always gives you a warm fuzzy feeling when you know the color it goes in, is the color it's going to come out.

Smell: Not as good as corn on the cob, but the corn is popping and other weak tasting grains. Of course it's not like that Budweiser is any better, right?

Taste: Alcohol! Alcohol! Alcohol! Is that alcohol I taste? I think so. Malt! Malt! Malt! Is that malt I taste? I think so.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, but nothing makes the mouth feel better, than when it's wrapped around an Old English 800.

Overall, this is cheap beer. Word. It's all about value, right? For the price of a 40oz Old English 800, you could buy a 12oz bottle of brand B beer. It's easy to see with the maximum alcohol per dollar ratio, you can't go wrong with O.E.

BeerAdvocate agrees with a really hot score of 69. Yeah! This is definitely a beer you should buy, if you want to get drunk and are low on the cash. But don't plan on driving or doing anything productive for a while after drinking it or perhaps for the rest of the week. It's like a vacation in a bottle. Keep the 8 Ball flowin'.

This rocks--totally made me laugh :) Nice! Next I want to see a review of Colt 45, Keystone Light, and a Pabst tallboy.

...come to think of it, I have a couple of tall cans of Busch Light or something in the fridge that my brother left...

HAHAHA...nice....what makes this even better is that after reading this, I happened to go to the store and was in line behind a guy that was buying 5 cans of the stuff.

Jon is not kidding about the Busch Light. He tried to pawn it off on my husband last night.
