Dare Accepted: Thou Chest Is Harrier
01.26.2008
Today was one of those days when things were accomplished and questions were answered, plus I was fed a good meal. What a deal, says I. The dare from Bend Oregon Restaurants was accepted to eat at The Speedshop Full Throttle Deli and take it to the sixth-gear. Upon entering the establishment, I saw one family seated awaiting their order. I waited my turn to order and debated on which sangwich to select. One of the young boys at the table was restless and seemed to keep muttering 'not another sangwich daddy'. Hmmmmmm... The owner approached the counter and took my order asking "First time here?". "Yeah!", I replied, "but I know what I want - SIXTH-GEAR!!!!!" "Are you sure," I was asked. Please! If there are things in life I know it's hot food and wanting it. I mentioned something about getting it because another blog suggested it, and pointed to the list I was about to sign. "Oh, you mean the guy behind you" spoke the owner. HA! I soon learned that BOR camped out at the joint to make sure I didn't renege on my offer to hit sixth-gear this weekend. It clearly explained why the kids were sick of sangwiches. Hanging out all weekend waiting for me indeed. Maybe it was coincidence that they were there at the same time, but I don't think so. Shortly my sangwich (The Roost) was presented before me. I will say the presentation is top-notch and you will have a hard time believing you are using plastic utensils. The Roost was ample and delicious and a tad spicy. Of course BOR was eating his sixth-gear and whimpering a bit over the heat. I think a few times my nose ran a bit, but it's more likely that it was hay fever related rather than the heat from my sangwich. However, I could be mistaken. Also, on this day I finally had another question answered. For some reason I never noticed that there are two blogs for Bend Oregon Restaurants. One is the current one and the other was abandoned. I simply never noticed the subtle domain name change and the new author. Previously it was BrENDa (who was clearly a woman) and BOR (who is clearly a man). At first I questioned if it had been a case of gender reassignment, but that theory was squashed today. It's always nice when a questions you have are answered directly from the source. While I didn't rip off my shirt and show the proof, I can tell after accepting this dare my chest is clearly harrier and my tummy is full. Bravo! The best dare I ever accepted.
