The Numbers Game

Life certainly is a numbers game. Two is better than one, seeing lucky numbers on the back of fortune cookie fortunes, the lowering numbers at gas stations, and the personal number that represents us.

So, last Friday my personal number increased by one. In essence, one day I was a certain number and the next day it was different. Sort of odd how in some ways nothing has really changed, while at the same time everything has. The truth is that change is not always easy, or a good thing, but it's one of those certainties in life that you come to expect. Maybe that's part of my increased wisdom through my increased age. I'd like to think so.

Now, even though my age has increased, I've always been used to being the young one. Seriously, at school I was always the youngest in my classes, at work I was the youngest, and in my relationships I was the always the youngest. Sort of things I seemed to just except at times. Of course things change, and none of those are the case anymore. Obviously time to change my typical expectations and embrace the change.

This past weekend, during my celebratory mood, I got to also experience the best three words that didn't include "lower gas prices". Once again, an event where nothing really has changed, yet everything has and I'm welcoming it, along with my other recent numeral changes.
