So That Was June

JUNE whoa there

Not June Cleaver, Wally or the Beave, or anything resembling a relaxing month. When I last left you, I left you with some revealing news. Nothing quite as revealing this time around.

A week ago today I received the keys to the new Casa de el Architect and la Teacher and began the moving madness. Now, normally any move requires a great deal of effort and this one was no exception. Probably the biggest challenge was doing this without using any of the weekend. Why was that?

Last weekend required another visit to The Teacher in Astoria. On Friday we completed our marriage certificate at the county clerks office and on Saturday we had another bridal shower / meet and greet. I think by now I've meet most of her large family, but this was an excuse for another get together celebration. Thanks to the generosity of all who attended we scored some nice gifts as well. The deluxe deep fryer will be put to good use. I need to find a good Twinkee recipe stat. Score!

On Friday the Astoria Column was open at last. I took advantage of this opportunity and climbed up the 164 spiral stairs to the top. Despite the amazing view from the top, I still couldn't see my house, or the large amount of boxes scattered everywhere. Oh well, even though I couldn't see them, I knew they'd be there when I got back.

On Sunday The Teacher and I headed to Portland for some suit shopping. Being a rather tall guy, I really can't just go anywhere and find something that fits. However, Men's Warehouse worked out rather well, and the suit has been purchased, with slight adjustments being made to it right now by the tailor who was about two feet shorter than I am.

The final wedding band for The Teacher was also purchased, so many of the final pieces are being checked off the list. A good feeling indeed. For something else that invokes good feelings, we also had some tasty burgers at Five Guys in Beaverton. A complete weekend indeed.

However, my fun was not done. After the drive back from Portland on Sunday, I jumped right back into the process of moving out/moving in/cleaning (wash, rinse, repeat). That basically continued through Tuesday evening, with the final touches being applied. As I sit here typing this, I'm done at the old place. Relief INDEED!

Now onto the new place. At least The Teacher is currently here to help with that task.

Congrats on getting into your new digs over there in Astoria. Judy and I are planning a road trip down the coast in September and I would sure like to say Hi to the two of you then if it happens.

I guess that means that you won't be in the Tournament of Champions for Holdem for Habitat in October. That is a good thing in that it gives me a much better chance of winning.

I am so happy for the two of you that I look at every day when I step into my office as your magnetic personalities are attached to my file cabinet.

Ha! You wish Lyle! The Teacher is moving TO Bend, so I will indeed be at the Tournament of Champions for Holdem for Habitat in October. I think I need another printer. ;)
